Position Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Specialist will assist with the receiving, handling, processing, and shipping of - materials/product. This role will also ensure the integrity, control, and accuracy of of inventory control and delivery of materials/products to the proper department.

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

Receiving:
  • Unload, Receive and Sign for incoming Packages
  • Reconcile Number of packages Received/Delivered; before the Courier leaves
  • Inspect and Record Packages for Damage or Defects
  • Quarantine any Mis-delivered Package and notify Inventory Control Associate for Investigation for redirection of Shipment
  • In conjunction with the Receiving Specialist , reconcile purchased materials received compared to Purchase Orders
  • The Receiving Specialist will Follow Up with the Supplier and Requestor, as appropriate
  • Submit to QA and complete RM label process for Received Items
  • Ensure all Packing Slips (Original or Manual) are delivered to Finance
  • Deliver RM Labeled Items to Recipient/Department and maintain a Log with the Signature of the Acceptor
  • Return RM Label Packet to Quality Assurance Group
  • Perform Routine Dock Clearance
  • Contribute to Continuous Process Improvement Initiatives
  • Support Shipping Specialist Role, as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned


Shipping:
  • Perform Quality Control Checks before shipment is performed
  • Prepare Shipments in accordance with IATA Shipping Regulations
  • Prepares Air Waybills against paperwork of package to be shipped to ensure quantities, destination, and shipping mode are correct
  • Assist with preparation of Commercial Invoices and Customs Documentation for Export
  • Generation of Air Waybills and Shipping Documents; Domestic and International according to Requestors preferred Courier; (e.g. FedEx, QuickSTAT, World Courier, etc.) shipments
  • Schedule Pick-Up with Non-standard Couriers, as necessary
  • Ship all Outbound Packages and inform Sender of any delay
  • Help department lead with maintaining Shipping Supplies
  • Use Courier Systems to get transit information on Shipments from origin through to delivery
  • Assist department lead with all Shipping Complaint Investigations, as necessary
  • Contribute to Continuous Process Improvement Initiatives




Other:
  • Contribute to portions of the laboratory project work scopes as needed
  • Effectively communicate with internal office staff including Project Managers and Data Management Team
  • Receive laboratory supplies
  • Maintain an organized and safe workplace/workspace environment
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Minimum Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year relevant working experience


Other Required:
  • Familiar with Warehouse Receiving procedures
  • Good attention to detail, excellent documentation skills and must work well in a group environment
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision and guidance
  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task on daily basis, prioritize project goals, pay strict attention to detail
  • Must be a flexible, agile Team Player who can change activities and directions quickly and respond to a variety of assignments and changing business needs
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs and is able to squat, bend, stoop, push, kneel and reach
  • Ability to carry between 25-150 lbs.; frequently required to sit, grasp, and use right/left finger dexterity
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • Ability to work in cold, hot and wet environments
  • Must possess a valid driver's license allowing you to drive in the state(s) you drive in
  • Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language


Preferred:
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Science, Business or related field
  • Familiar with LIMS type system
  • Good organizational and people skills. Good computer skills with mid to advanced level in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe.
  • Must be detail orientated

This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
